Josh “Kos” Koscheck is the perfect example of how a well-rounded fighter has to be these days in the UFC.

A former NCAA National Wrestling Champion, the 5-10, 170 pound middleweight jumped into the ultimate fighting world and was part of the first cast of the Ultimate Fighter. During the season, Koscheck scored a win over Chris Leben, but was obviously inexperienced in the cage and relying to heavily on his wrestling background.

Following a decision loss to Diego Sanchez on the show, Koscheck continued to train and eventually made his way into the UFC. After a couple of wins, Koscheck suffered a submission loss to Drew Fickett, sending him back to the bottom of the ladder.

After the loss, Koscheck dedicated himself to becoming a better all-around fighter and has improved on his boxing and ground-and-pound, straying away from just his wrestling identity. Since the loss to Fickett, Koscheck has won four-straight fights with the most recent coming in a decision win over Jeff Joslin.

Koscheck will now look to redeem his Ultimate Fighter loss to Diego Sanchez on April 7 at UFC 69: Shootout. A chance to earn a title shot if he can hand Sanchez his first career MMA defeat is on the line.
