Everybody knows that the ladies love the vampires, but when you take a bunch of fanged wonders and throw sex, blood and rock ‘n' roll into the mix, it's funny how the demographic suddenly jumps to include both genders. "True Blood," based on the "The Southern Vampire Mysteries" series of novels by Charlaine Harris, debuted on HBO in 2008, offering a gorgeous female lead (Anna Paquin), a decidedly masculine vampire for her to play against (Stephen Moyer), and lots of…say, what are the kids calling it these days? Oh, that's right: fang-banging.

When Season 2 of the series wrapped up in September of 2009, it arguably was with more of a whisper than a scream, owing to the weariness many viewers felt in regards to the seemingly never-ending storyline of Miss Maryann Forester (Michele Forbes), but between the knowledge that she was gone for good and the number of teases offered in the second half of the season finale, we were excited at the prospect of what Season 3 might hold. On working with Chris Bauer on "True Blood": I’m given a lot of leeway in terms of things that I can do with this character, and Chris is smart enough to go with some of the things that I throw at him, and we’ve had some sort of beautiful accidents.

It was kind of fun being sort of a red herring that first year, with people thinking that I'm the murderer in town. There was that little moment where I think people were suspicious of me, and that was fun to play.

Sookie has a thing for vampires, so unless you're one of the walking undead, it's going to be tough to convince her that you're her soul mate. Considering everyone around her seems to end up dead, maybe that isn't such a bad thing....

The first season was excellent, though it got off to a bit of a slow start. Paquin is the key, but her best friend Tara (played by Rutina Wesley) often steals the show.
