Yeah, yeah, we know: the All Star break technically isn't the midway point of the baseball season. Send a letter of complaint to MLB's front offices. For all intents and purposes, though, this is halftime of baseball's grueling 162-game schedule, which means it's time to take a three-day vacation from your fantasy teams, watch the Home Run Derby, and wonder how the hell Freddy Sanchez made the All Star team. Of course, it's also time to look at the standings and stats, and try to figure out how everything's going to play out in the next two and a half months. Too lazy to do that yourself? No worries: we've done all the work for you.
15 THINGS WE LEARNED IN THE 1ST HALFAre the Cardinals cursed? Mike Ricordati thinks so. He also thinks Lou Pinella is crazy, Elijah Dukes deserves his own reality show, and his own White Sox are a disaster. Those are just a few of the things we learned during the season's first three months. |
15 THINGS TO LOOK FOR IN THE 2ND HALFWe know what was; now it's time to look at what will be. Can the Brewers actually win the NL Central? Are the Yankees on the outside looking into the postseason? Are Junior's days in the 'Nati numbered? If a record falls in San Fran, and Bud Selig isn't there to hear it, does it make a sound? Mike has your answers. |
MIDSEASON POWER RANKINGSThe four best teams in baseball reside in the American League. At least that's what Anthony Stalter says in our Midseason Power Rankings. The top 10 features surprise appearances from the Mariners and Diamondbacks, while the defending champs find themselves just a couple spots above the Orioles and Pirates. Ugh. |
MIDSEASON PREDICTIONSOne of those top four AL teams is the Tigers, and while he enjoyed a Pat Burrell- like success rate with his preseason predictions, Anthony's not changing his mind about the Tigers winning the World Series. He has, however, seen the light in the AL and NL East divisions. |
