The album opens with a nostalgic look back to Enema of the State with "Anthem Part Two," a familiar conclusion to the prior album's "Anthem." "Story of a Lonely Guy" and "Stay Together For the Kids" are rock ballads reminiscent of "Adam's Song," both showing the more emotional side of the group, with sweet harmonies and their trademark lyrics. "Rock Show," the first single to hit MTV, carries the pop sound that elevated "All the Small Things" to the top on the past album, but is still one of the better tracks on the disc. With its fresh sound, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket is another huge step toward Blink's future success. This album equally distributes both guitarist Tom DeLonge's vocals and bassist Mark Hoppus throughout all the tracks, giving it a very balanced feel. Overall, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket proves that Blink still has what it takes. It is a great album and highly recommended for any audience. ~Jason Zingale jzingale@bullz-eye.com Other Blink 182 reviews: |
