Third Eye Blind is one of those bands that fits into a few genres -- angry teen rock, indie, alternative, punk and slick pop/rock. With a completely unique, yet interesting sound and addictive songwriting, this album is one of the best major label debuts out there.

Singer Stephan Jenkins has a signature scream evident on "Losing a Whole Year," "Graduate" and "Good For You." "Semi-charmed Life" is a bopping pop song that sprung this band to immediate fame. They backed this up with the melancholy ballad "How's it Going To Be," one of those break-up songs that fills your mind with college-dorm memories. "Jumper," a song about suicide, is another modern rock/pop crossover track. All told, the most moving tracks are the last four. Sometimes this music is so sweet and powerfully depressing that you can't take it out of your player.

This is just a solid band, mixing modern production with acoustic moments and head-banging power chords. Jenkins has a distinctive voice and a knack for writing addictive songs. I could never tire of this record.
