This singer/songwriter from Oklahoma grew up listening to his dad's band practice in their living room, and has been obsessed with the craft of songwriting ever since. Though he's only 20 years old, Graham Colton's music has an old-school style with a modern twist…you can hear influences like the Beatles and Tom Petty with their addictive melodies and twangy guitars, to the more current sounds of Train and Tonic. And he has more than that going for him -- Aware Records artist Cary Pierce produced this debut effort.

"Jessica" is a rhythmically addictive opener with some sweet guitar melodies balancing a jangly acoustic guitar with Colton's powerful voice. "Save Me" is very Petty-ish and "Best Thing" is simply the best track on the CD, a made-for-commercial-radio song if there still is such a thing -- just one of those songs that makes you forget what you're doing and go "man, this is sa-weet." "Summer Stars" is a Goo Goo Dolls-y hook fest as well and "Killing Me" reminds me of Vertical Horizon or Oasis, about as perfect for a movie soundtrack as it gets. Some of the middle songs get a little monotonous rhythmically, but Colton's use of melody keeps things interesting. "This Time" is a dead ringer for Edwin McCain and proves just how good this kid's voice really is.

Having already toured with Train, Blues Traveler and John Mayer, it's evident Graham Colton can go nowhere but up, and won't be without major label backing for long. This is one very talented young singer/songwriter that everyone is going to be talking about, and a lot, really soon. What do you mean you've never heard of Graham Colton? Well, now you have, so go pick this one up!
