CD Reviews:  Danny: White Chocolate

Rating:

Available at RivalRecords.com

Sometimes Brian McKnight, look out, there's a new kid in town. His name is Danny and he's got an incredible release on this indie label out of Lorain, Ohio. In a very crowded genre of music, this record should stand out because of Danny's amazing vocal talent and the major label-like production of Scotti Campana.

Right off the bat, "Ghetto Girl" and "Married Man" show off the aforementioned vocal ability. "I Want U Want U" has great single potential that could cross over onto the pop charts very easily. "2 Girls" and "Party With Me" have a 1970s Motown feel that brings to mind Barry White and Marvin Gaye with the vocal power of 1980s star Billy Ocean. "Hustlin'" features another group on the label, SOSC, and along with "Mary Jane" are very solid straight ahead rap tunes that are made for radio. Other strong tracks are the ballads "I Was Wrong" and "Small Things."

Fans of R & B should run to the stores and pick up White Chocolate immediately -- it's that good. Full of great melodies and slick production, you'll have these songs stuck in your head for days and that'll be okay with you, trust me.
