Most people have only heard the Michael Jackson remake "Smooth Criminal" but this is a hard-rocking, riff-laden, strong, straight-ahead rock record.

"Courage," the opening track, brings to mind Papa Roach. "Movies" is a Blink-182-esque punk song, but what separates this band from most hard rock/punk bands is the strength of lead vocalist
Dryden Mitchell. At times, he reminds me of Matthew Good [create link], someone I gave a strong review of on this site. The guitar sounds and progressions are even a little more grown-up than your typical punk material. "Attitude" in particular shows off Alien Ant Farm's solid musicianship. "Stranded" brings to mind the eerie yet feel-good vibe of the Goo Goo Dolls. Rounding out a great record is "Smooth Criminal," a risky cover tune that the band really takes to a new level.

Alien Ant Farm has a distinctive sound, and puts out a release here that has enough variety to appeal to a large audience. Add ANThology to your collection and you won't be disappointed.
